Spring Session 2 Afterschool Registration

(February March 30th - May 28th)

REGISTRATION IS OPEN FROM MARCH 16th to MARCH 28th!

Register each student by the day(s) of the week they are participating in.

PAYPAL PAYMENTS: there is an option to add $2/$4 supply fee when registering to alleviate our paypal fee losses. 

 

Scholarships are reserved for students with demonstrated financial need and children of Jones teachers or staff. If you would like to request a scholarship, please select the option to pay later (via cash or check) at checkout and email us at [email protected] to request it, and we will manually remove the charges.

Multi-Club Registration

Spring Clubs are here!

Most clubs will meet from 3:30-4:30, with care provided from dismissal from school until clubs begin. For clubs that end at 4:30, there is an option to sign up for extended free play for a fee, meaning students can be picked up at 5:15 instead if needed.

Registration will be open from March 16th to March 28th

Both full and partial scholarships are available: when registering, select the option to "pay later" via cash or check, and email us at [email protected] to request a scholarship.

 

GIRLS ON THE RUN: Students participating in Girls on the Run should not register for Monday or Wednesday clubs. Registration for GoTR is separate from Jones Afterschool, and can be done here.

The Art of Science, Presented by the Asheville Museum of Science: Was Van Gogh a scientist? Was Einstein an artist? What does the A in “STEAM” stand for? Well, “The Art of Science,” will tell you! We’ll work together to create projects that highlight the intersection between art and science. From Rorschach tests to discovering the way colors blend and light bends, this session gets students not just thinking - but creating!

Arts and Crafts with Ms. Grace: Hands on fun: drawing, painting, collage, sun catchers, bracelet making and more! This club will focus on one to two day projects for students to take home with an emphasis on recycled materials.

Dungeons & Dragons: Embark on an epic quest! Students will build characters, solve puzzles, and roll the dice in a world of pure imagination. Both new and returning players are welcome!

Paper Making with Ms. Immy: Learn the ancient and beautiful art of making your own paper from scratch! Ms. Immy will show students how to give new life to scrap paper and pulp by reforming it into new sheets of beautiful, handcrafted paper!

Origami Club with Ms. Immy: Master the beautiful art of Japanese paper folding!

Karaoke and Dance Club: High energy, big voices, and great moves. The perfect place for students to burn off energy and find their spotlight! Students will learn their favorite songs and dances, perform for their friends, and create their own choreography with Afterschool staff member Jo'El.

The Joy of Manga: Dive into the world of Japanese graphic novels! Students will create their own characters and world to make their own manga books with Afterschool staff member Jordan!

Jewelry Making with Ms. Grace: Come learn the basics of jewelry making from tools, findings, making your own pendants and charms. Students will learn to make: earrings, bracelets, necklaces, keychains, and charm bracelets/necklaces. Projects will range from one day to multi-day projects. 

Mask Making with Ms. Immy: With a range of materials and techniques, students will learn about the different uses of masks around the world, and make their own! Become whoever you want to be!

Dungeons and Dragons: Embark on an epic quest! Students will build characters, solve puzzles, and roll the dice in a world of pure imagination. Both new and returning players are welcome!

Pokémon Club: Pokemon fans, the time has finally come! Afterschool staff member Vance and Mr. Leo will teach students how to play the Pokemon card game, and lead other Pokemon-themed activities! Students are welcome to bring their own cards, but we will also have cards available for those who don’t have their own. No supplies or previous experience is required!

Zines and Mail Art with Mr. Leo: Turn "scraps" into art! Use collage, drawing, printmaking, and stickers to create booklets and "snail mail" to share with the world! "Zines", from shortening the world "magazine", are booklets meant to be easily and cheaply produced and shared, starting with the use of Xerox machines. Students will learn a bit about the history of zines and their use, and explore different techniques to create their own.

Lego Club: The ultimate builder's paradise. Participate in challenges and free-build sessions!

Slime Lab: Slime lab is back! Afterschool staff member Jo'El and Ms. Tish will lead students in making a different kind of slime each week to bring home. Prepare to get messy!

Terrestrial Investigations: Investigate Earth sciences including ecology, animals and how they interact with their environment, and geology!
